My New Children’s Picture Book – It’s Here
Introducing my co-author
Last year, Cole Okraski read my first children’s picture book, I’m Going to the Doctor?!, with his dad, and when they finished, Cole asked, “Where’s the X-ray Tech?” His father passed along his excellent question.
Turns out Cole has had many surgeries for his young age and his favorite part is getting X-rays done. Due to his experience, he wants to be an X-ray Technologist when he grows up. When I heard Cole’s story, I asked if he would become my creative partner. Thanks to his passion for X-rays and my joy of writing and illustrating, we are super duper excited to share our book, Introducing Xavier Ray!
Writing this book together has been an adventure. I had to learn a lot about X-rays, and Cole broke his arm during the process. He used his hospital visit to do some research and his parents even sent me a picture that you will recognize if you read the book.
When asked who he’d like to dedicate the book to, Cole said, “To all of the people who work at hospitals, especially X-ray Techs.”
My young creative partner and I have agreed that we will donate profits for this book to the Tiger Drive Scholarship and to a non-profit organization that provides surgeries and treatments for children with cleft lips and cleft palates. We are also donating copies of this book to several organizations that focus on the care and support of children.

There are not enough words to share how gratifying this experience has been for me. Cole is a true inspiration.
Next week I’ll return to writing about my recent river cruise. Until then, thanks for being you!
Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season,
Teri
